Installation steps and precautions for mechanical seals of water pumps

1. The compression amount of the mechanical seal spring of the water pump should not be too large or too small, with an error value of ± 2.00 millimeters. If it is too large, it will increase the specific pressure of the section, accelerate the wear of the section, and if it is too small, it will lead to insufficient pressure and cannot function as a seal. After installing the mechanical seal spring, it can move freely in the spring seat. When using it, pay attention to the rotation direction of the spring, which should be opposite to the rotation direction of the pump shaft.
2. After the installation of the sealing ring of the water pump, it should maintain flexible movement and be able to automatically bounce back when the ring is pressed against the spring.
3. First, place the static ring sealing ring on the back of the static ring, and then install it into the sealing end cover. Pay attention to protecting the cross-section of the machine seal static ring, ensuring that the cross-section of the static ring is perpendicular to the centerline of the end cover, and align the anti rotation groove on the back of the static ring with the anti rotation pin, but do not let it come into contact with each other
4. During the installation process of the machine seal, it is prohibited to directly tap the sealing components with tools. Special tools must be used to tap to avoid damaging the sealing components.
5. When installing the machine seal sealing ring, apply soapy water or other lubricants to avoid damaging the rubber ring during installation. Apply lubricating grease between the dynamic and static sealing surfaces of the machine seal to prevent wear and tear before the water pump starts.
6. When assembling the floating ring of the machine seal, be careful not to touch the floating ring spring to avoid affecting the floating performance. After assembling the floating ring, try gently pressing it to confirm if it has good floating performance.
7. When installing the mechanical seal, it should be handled with care to avoid damaging the seal. During installation, the seal and chamber should be wiped clean.
8. When strengthening the mechanical seal of the water pump, the force on the bolts should be uniform to avoid uneven force damage to the mechanical seal. For quick installation mechanical seals, do not forget to fix the positioning plate radially away from the shaft position after assembly.
9. Due to the different media conveyed by different water pumps, the media encountered in mechanical seals are also different. For example, the temperature of hot and cold water is different, the pressure in the pump chamber is different, and the corrosiveness of the media is different. Therefore, the design of mechanical seals will be different, and the process will also be different.
10. Mechanical seal is one of the effective sealing methods for water pumps. The machining accuracy of the mechanical seal is relatively high, especially for the dynamic and static rings of the mechanical seal. If the installation method is incorrect or used improperly after installation, not only will the mechanical seal fail to function as a seal, but it may also damage the mechanical seal components.
