Design of high-speed mechanical seals
When designing mechanical seals, careful investigation and research must first be conducted to obtain the design conditions and required parameters:
1. The type of host and the parts that need to be sealed.
2. Operating conditions. Namely, the medium pressure, medium temperature, and shaft speed. The name, composition, and properties of the sealed medium. Including density, viscosity, vaporization pressure, presence of corrosiveness, suspended particles, etc.
3. The allowable limit value of leakage.
4. Vibration and deflection of the shaft.
5. Structure of sealing parts. This includes the dimensions of the shaft or sleeve, the structure of the sealing chamber, the inner diameter and depth of the sealing chamber, the assembly dimensions of the sealing gland, and the roughness of each surface.
6. Auxiliary system situation. The temperature of the cooling water, whether there are conditions for taking flushing and cooling measures, and whether there are filtering devices.
